Sorry, Alien- Romulus, The Best Alien Sequel Is Still Alien- Isolation

There’s something specific about Ridley Scott’s 1979 movie Alien that makes it such an enduring classic. With the combination of its heavy focus on relatable, blue-collar characters, its dingy, lived-in capitalist version of space travel, and its stalking, unknowably malevolent creature, it creates a feeling that other horror movies have chased and tried to replicate again and again across the decades since its release.

The latest attempt to recapture what made Alien so viscerally, singularly frightening is Alien: Romulus, a sequel to that original movie. It does a better job than some of the Alien canon of at least creating scary moments with the universe’s greatest killing machine, but it relies on explosive, bombastic moments with H.R. Geiger’s xenomorph, mu…

A Cole County judge, Judge Daniel Green, dismissed a lawsuit filed by Torch Electronics, a major distributor of unregulated slot machines, just one day before it was set to go to trial.

Mixed Reactions to Torch Electronics’ Lawsuit Dismissal

The case, filed in 2021 by Torch Electronics and Warrenton Oil Company, aimed to establish the legality of their machines, which they claimed were designed for amusement purposes despite offering cash prizes. Torch argued that its machines were being unfairly targeted by the state. However, the state contended that the company was attempting to shield itself from prosecution.

All Black Ops 6 safe code locations and solutions in the campaign

Although Call of Duty is known for its dramatic setpiece action, Black Ops 6 tries to shake things up a little when it comes to its campaign. Sprinkled between gunfights and explosions are various puzzles, the most important of which are the safes which require cracking. To do that, you’ll need to know all the Black Ops 6 safe codes, including how to find and open every safe.

While you won’t need the best Black Ops 6 loadouts at hand to solve these puzzles, there’s no shortage of action in the campaign mode. Luckily, these puzzles are completely optional, so you can skip them if you’re not cut out for the Robin Hood lifestyle. Don’t forget though, you need money to upgrade the safehouse.

Oof- Years before Steam, a Blizzard engineer wanted to turn Battle.net into a third-party game store, but was reportedly turned down

The world of today is the result of every decision and accident that led to it, which is a disconcerting thought given how many things it’s possible to almost do in a lifetime. Case in point, according to a new book on the history of Blizzard, the Warcraft studio rejected a proposal to turn Battle.net into a third-party game store years before Steam launched.

It just released today, but we’ve already learned some interesting stuff from the book, Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future Of Blizzard Entertainment by long-time games industry reporter Jason Schreier. Blizzard may be trying once again to make a StarCraft shooter, and has reportedly rejected multiple proposals for new RTSes.

Making an expensive new RTS does seem risky, so I get it, but past rejections sure…

This Lenovo AI laptop concept creepily follows you around the room with its ever-watchful screen

Are you the type to put Blu Tack over your webcam, for fear of someone getting access to it? If so, Lenovo’s new AI PC concept probably isn’t for you, as its central gimmick requires having a reading of your face at pretty much every moment.

As reported by Tom’s Hardware, the Auto Twist AI PC is a new laptop concept that was shown off at IFA in Berlin just this week. It comes with a “Dual Degree of Freedom” hinge that allows the screen itself to spin around, while the webcam captures your face and tells it where to go. It can slide up and down, or left and right to look at your face as you walk away or get closer to the screen, although it does seem to encounter the odd hiccup.

For instance, the screen wobbles pretty substantially when readjusting, and flicks back and fort…
